Structuring the Competencies for Knowledge Management Executive Program

Abstract: The main aim of the research was to examine the competencies required for employees to graduate from a MKM Executive Program offered by the International Islamic University Malaysia. The expected research output includes a list of competencies for developing the program structure and learning outcomes, course learning outcomes and descriptions. MKM Executive Program shall be offered as a credit-hour system with graduation requirements of 40 credit hours. Data collection involved review of literature and selective extraction of the competencies, interview with Petronas, survey of the job advertisements in newspapers for a duration of 3 months (January – March 2008), survey of courses on the website, conduct of three workshops (September 2007, March and April 2008), survey of trainings offered by organizations and associations in Malaysia (January – March 2008) and questionnaire on competencies for KM circulated among the clients of Paradigm System Sdn. Bhd. scheduled in June 2008.
