Knowledge Champions in Textile & Clothing Business Labs

Abstract: This deliverable describes the efforts provided and the results obtained within the first project year of TCBL (July 2015 to June 2016) related to the management of knowledge relevant for the T&C industry in the so-called Knowledge Spaces (KS). Work has been done mainly in the framework of WP2 “Knowledge Exchange”, in particular in Task 2.1 “Knowledge Champions” and task 2.2 “Knowledge Ignition”.
The objective for this period was to establish groups of experts, the so-called Knowledge Champions, to drive the growth of the KS knowledge repository, and to populate it with some structured knowledge items, the so-called Knowledge Nuggets, thus constituting a stable starting point with a critical mass for a sustainable self-operation of the community. In parallel also a co-design of the Knowledge Spaces platform (see work package 1) as reported in the former deliverable D1.1, has been performed, in particular related to the search functionality. As a short summary, intensive effort has been performed in order to activate members and followers to contribute with information and knowledge about their motivation and expertise related to TCBL. During the past twelve months more than 400 Knowledge Nuggets have been created, a simple to use configurable search interface has been implemented, more Knowledge Champions than foreseen have been identified, 9 articles and one e-book have been created.
Related processes for these actions have been drafted, tested and assessed, as described mainly in chapter 3 and chapter 4. The assessments basically showed that the envisaged approach for creating and managing a sustainable ecosystem with value-adding knowledge content and prospering actions is confirmed, and has to be further elaborated and refined in a number of directions. These relate for example to IPR management, motivation and training of Knowledge Champions, structuring of Knowledge Nuggets (categories, dimensions, tagging, maturity, target audience, ….), language, authoring and quality management. Future input to the KS is foreseen as a result from – among others – WP1 related to data analytics and intelligence.
Work planned over the next months will particular focus on the integration and interaction of all the information systems for knowledge creation and management, providing motivation and guidance to the Knowledge Champions. It will also include the development of a business model for the sustainability of the Knowledge Spaces.
