Notes:

1) Fourah Bay College (FBC; est. 1827) became a degree granting institution with an affiliation to the University of Durham in England in 1876. In 1960 it was granted a Royal Charter to become "Fourah Bay College - The University College of Sierra Leone" by the University of Durham. In 1967, the College was merged with Njala University College (NUC; est. 1964) to form the federal system of the University of Sierra Leone. In 1972 the system became a unitary structure to include additional educational institutions. In 2005 two universities were created: Njala University College (NUC; ; since 2009: Njala University (NU)) and the University of Sierra Leone (incl. FBC and others).
2) FCMIS was formerly known as Institute of Library and Communication Studies (INSLICS)
3) DISKM was formerly known as Department of Library, Archive and Information Studies (DLAIS)
