Sie wurde aus der Zusammenarbeit der nicht-akademischen Fernhochschulen Deutsches eLearning Studieninstitut (DeLSt; gegr. 2010) und Academy of Sports (AoS, gegr. 2005) gegründet. Zusammen bilden die drei den BildungsCampus Backnang.
