1) University College Ibadan was established in 1948 as a College of the University of London which supervised its academic programmes and awarded degrees until 1967. It became a full-fledged independent university in early 1963.
2) Until 2020 DDIS was known as Africa Regional Centre for Information Science (ARCIS, est. 1990). ARCIS is now research-focussed arm of the department.
