Notes:

1) ATU was established in 1984 by a merger of the Academic Complex of Literature and Humanities and the Academic Complex of Administrative and Commercial Sciences. It is rooted in the School of Accounting and Oil Financial Sciences (est. 1957) and the Tehran College of Commerce (est. 1958).
2) The Faculty of Psychology and Education, formerly the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences (PES), was established in 1982 by a merger of the Abu Reihan Biruni University, Azad University of Iran, Shemiran Graduate School, Damavand College, Pars Graduate School, and the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. It operated under the auspices of the Academic Complex of Literature and Humanities.
3) The Department of Knowledge and Information Science was formerly known as Department of Librarianship and Information
4) "Knowledge and Information Science" is the official translation of "علم اطلاعات و دانش شناسی" by the university. Literally it means "Information science and knowledge knowing". The google translation for "knowledge knowing" is "epistemology".
5) The Scientific Student Association of Knowledge and Information Science is affiliated to the Union of Iranian Knowledge and Information Science Student Associations, formerly known as Union of Iranian Library and Information Science Student Associations.
