The Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) is an annual research conference in the information systems discipline held in the region. AMCIS attracts up to a thousand or more attendees principally from North America but increasingly from other regions of the world as well. It is conducted under the auspices of Association for Information Systems (AIS). Colleagues from prominent local universities take responsibility for organizing and making local arrangements associated with the conference.

Recurring “Knowledge Management” tracks of interest:

  • 2004-2015: Business Analytics, Big Data and Knowledge Management (was: Business Intelligence, Analytics, & Knowledge Management (2014); Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management (2011-2013); Decision Support, Data Management Systems, Knowledge Management, and Business Intelligence (2012); Decision Support, Knowledge and Data Management (2004-2010))
      The research track aims to attract novel research on technologies, applications, and processes for gathering, storing, accessing, analyzing, and presenting data, information, and knowledge for informed managerial decisions and enhanced organizational performance. .

Recurring “Knowledge Management” mini-tracks of interest:

  • 2015-2017, 2019-2022: Strategic Agility through Innovative Knowledge Management
      This mini-track explores (1) novel knowledge management approaches and (2) effective enterprise structures that can support enterprises to achieve strategic agility and innovation by facilitating interactive scholarly movements and raising significant issues on knowledge management methodology, its requirements, and organizational practices, both from theoretical and applied perspectives.
  • 2012-2019: Knowledge Management and Collaboration in Global Information Systems
      The focus of this mini-track will be on understanding the fundamental conditions of the industry and bridging the knowledge gap in global information systems.
  • 2017-2019: Knowledge Management in an Age of Disruptive Technologies and Consumer Engagement (was: Knowledge Management in an Age of Cloud Computing and Consumer Engagement (2017-2018))
      This mini-track seeks to create a forum for discussion of the latest trends in knowledge management. Possible topics include: consumer engagement and knowledge management, creating a learning culture, impact of social media, relationship with innovation and transformation, evidence-based decision making, knowledge management as decision support, patient engagement and patient portals, cloud-based knowledge management, or any other topic related to supporting knowledge sharing and learning in the workplace.
  • 2012-2014: End-User Training, Support, and Knowledge Management
      This mini-track will focus on end-user training, support, and knowledge management within and across organizations and cultures. Managing knowledge assets across a diverse workforce requires technical know-how along with sensitivity to an organization’s culture, group dynamics, and individual work styles.
  • 1996-2000: Knowledge Management and Organizational Learning (was: Organizational Learning (1996-1997))
      The focus of this mini-track is the linkage between knowledge management and organizational learning and the organizational processes that foster (or inhibit) information technology as an enabler of knowledge capture, sharing, and creation.
