1) SKEMA was formed in 2009 by the merger of the Centre d'Enseignement et de Recherche Appliqués au Management (CERAM Business School, est. 1963 as École supérieure de commerce de Nice (ESC Nice) by the Nice-Côte d'Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and the École supérieure de commerce de Lille (ESC Lille School of Management); est. 1892 by the Lille Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
The school name, SKEMA, is derived from the Greek, skhêma (shape, figure, formation of an object) meaning schema in Latin. It also stands for the initial letters of "School of Knowledge Economy and Management" (French: École de l’Economie de la Connaissance).
2) Established in 2011, GIISK at SKEMA Paris La Défense, for a short time known as Centre Intelligence et influence / Pôle Intelligence Economique de SKEMA, is the successor of the Centre d'Expertise en Intelligence Economique et Knowledge Management (Competitive Intelligence and Knowledge Management Expert Center), established within the Competence, Knowledge and Organization (CKO) axis at CERAM Business School in Sophia Antipolis. The center was a member of the European Doctoral School on Knowledge and Management (EUDOKMA)
3) The MS IEMC, formerly known as MS IEKM (Intelligence Economique et Knowledge Management), was offered at CERAM Business School from 2003-2009 and continued at SKEMA Business School until 2012. It was the successor of the 1996 created "Mastère Spécialisé" Economic Intelligence & the Management of Complex Projects (IEMPC). Its predecessor was the MSc International Strategy & Influence, which merged with the MSc Business Consulting & Digital Transformation in 2023 to create the MSc Business Consulting and Decision Intelligence (BCDI)
4) The KTO Research Centre at SKEMA Sophia Antipolis is the successor of the research axis Competence, Knowledge and Organization (CKO) established at CERAM Business School in Sophia Antipolis.
